Does God go to church?

Does God go to church?

Terry & Joanne Wilson

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

1Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

Ephesians 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Firstly, what is the church?

The word ‘church’ derives from the German/Scottish word: ‘kirche’ or similar…

The original meaning of the church comes from the Greek word: ‘ecclesia’ This is where we get the term ‘ecclesiastical’ from…The root Greek word ‘ekklessia’.

The ‘ekklessia’ means the ‘called out ones…The chosen…the gathering thereof. Or the body of!

Thus we get the ‘Body of Christ’ with Christ Jesus at the head.

Just as Jesus came to the earth in the flesh…God Himself manifest to us in the person of Christ Jesus (the Living Word), we become joined in him as believers into his body (the Tabernacle). Jesus is the head and we are the body in which there are many functions.

Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

1Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

1Corinthians 12:20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

Therefore…Jesus (following his resurrection and ascension) is no longer in one geographical location in the earth, but all over the earth within those who belong to him…This is the ‘real church (ekklessia) and not a building containing pews and a pulpits!

Acts 7:48 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,

Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

1Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Therefore it is the ‘body of believers’ that are the church of God (Body of Christ..Ekklessia) and not and institution or a flash/lush building!

It is the GATHERING TOGETHER (fellowship) of the believers which constitutes the church of God!

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

So…

Is God a Catholic, or a Jew, or a Methodist, or an Anglican, or Pentecostal?

God is NOT religious…Or does he favour any denominational sectarian viewpoint!

God is God! He sent his only begotten Son to die for us on a cross…He came to pay the penalty for our sin, and we need to confess our sin to him and be born again.. John 3:16-20 John 3:3-8
